About this course

The B2 First test can be used for education or employment purposes.

Our course prepares you for the test in two main ways. First, you will learn the B2 First test format; what types of questions you need to answer, and techniques on how to answer them. Second, while developing these test skills, you will also continue to develop your English skills.

What you will learn

You will learn a range of test skills, including:

Time management

  • Answering test questions in order of importance
  • Understanding question time limits

Listening skills:

  • Listening for specific/general information
  • Gauging the context of a conversation

Speaking skills:

  • Answering questions directly
  • Avoiding irrelevant details
  • Self-correction

Reading skills:

  • How to understand an article quickly, without reading every word
  • How to find specific details within a text

Writing skills:

  • Understanding different sentence structures, and when to use them effectively
  • Sentence, paragraph, and essay structure
  • Using appropriate tone

Excursions & School events

Your teacher will take you on excursions to help build your knowledge for the B2 First test. Examples include galleries (vocabulary for 'arts & culture''), cafes ('describing hobbies'), and city walks (discussing 'where you live').
